Frank Barry went Pro at age 15 and despite some challenges such as near death experiences, has made a career in the off-road industry. In March of 2006 he sustained life threatening injuries during an arena cross practice that put his racing temporarily on hold but he has since made a strong comeback in many disciplines. That downtime lead to a diversification in Frank's industry activities including helping his parents Wendy and Laurence found their facility, BUMP. Frank has been offering advanced suspension services since 2010.
BUMP is proud to introduce our 2023 BUMP AMBASSADOR line up! This group of diverse and hugely talented riders and individuals were chosen as BUMP ambassadors based on contribution to sport, dedication to their disciplines, and their ongoing improvements that they make to the BUMP brand. Besides the main BUMP Ambassador, Frank Barry #841 (VMX #1), in no particular order, we present:
Craig Whitson is best known as BUMP's Twitter and Instagram machine. He has a diverse riding range that includes arenacross, flattening over half a start line in almost any mx start, endurocross, enduro and ice racing. Craig and Frank are always up to something, whether it's trips to Idaho to ride the dunes, night riding in the woods or vintage Honda trikes in the winter. Follow him on Twitter: @Craig523 or instagram.com/bumpmx
BUMP is excited to have Laurie as our newest member of BUMP’s Ambassadors. Laurie is the first of the 3rd Generations of our family to become active in BUMP’s family owned operated business. And Laurie is the only one the 3 generations that can say her 1st home she ever lived in is the white farmhouse right south of the pit area!
Some of you may also recognize Laurie from working at Riverside Honda.
Laurie will be in or near the sign-in building helping to register riders and visitors to BUMP.
Here is Jason, man of many talents, except doing a write up on himself! You may see Jason out on our trails which is where his passion of riding is, or he sometimes spotted out on the tracks riding with either his son Davin or daughter Makayla. Jason is a great ambassador for the sport & for BUMP! Jason has in the past been an activate ADRA board member, lacrosse dad, and longtime BUMP season pass holder & friend! Jason will take riders through our trails, and has been activately involved with cutting & marking trails.
I started riding an ATC 70 at 5 years old, then at 10 I convinced mom to buy my brother and I a 1976 Honda XR75 from a garage sale. At 12 we acquired a 1986 RM80 and I was hooked, from there we upgraded to a brand new 1990 RM80 to go racing! At 14 I entered my first (and only) year of racing on the Saskatchewan circuit which waCcs coincidentally the same class as a young Blair Morgan, so there was no chance at a provincial title...haha
At 15 I had to choose between Hockey and Motocross, I decided on hockey and moved to North Battleford Sask where I played 5 years of Midget and Junior hockey. At the end of my hockey playing days I was intrigued by street bikes; I bought and built a few custom Harley bikes which was enjoyable, but I honestly got bored riding them...the Saskatchewan highways had whoops but no corners or jumps
In 2014 we found a mini quad and got it running for the kids to play on, one thing leads to another and I ended up with a modern CR250...after a 23-year break, I was back on the track! Upon relocation to the Edmonton area I was lucky enough to find the BUMP facility, our family have been regulars for the last 3 years and really enjoy the variety of tracks and atmosphere the Barry’s have created. Frank and Wendy have even got me into vintage racing which is a whole new experience that is extremely enjoyable. We feel very fortunate to have such a great facility a stone’s throw away, really hope to see you out here!
When Warren is not at his snowboard shop Easy Rider or on the North Saskatchewan River instructing/demonstrating Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) he came be found riding and maintaining BUMP’S trails on his KTM. Warren sends Craig pictures from his trail rides that can seen on Instagram.com/bumpmx or on BUMP’s website.
2023, look for Warren on his KTM, and maybe riding his vintage or trails bike.
